# Step 1: Mint Your SBT

### 🪪 What is an SBT?

An **SBT (Soulbound Token)** is a non-transferable NFT that serves as your proof of early access to the Alterim AI platform.\
In Alterim AI's CBT, the SBT functions as your personal "passport" — allowing you to mint your AI companion and participate in all available activities.

Unlike typical NFTs, an SBT **cannot be sold, transferred, or traded**. It is permanently bound to your wallet, representing your early involvement in the Alterim ecosystem.

### ✨ Why Do You Need an SBT?

* Grants exclusive access to the Alterim AI Closed Beta.
* Allows you to mint your AI companion during CBT.
* Marks you as an early adopter, potentially qualifying you for future rewards and perks.
* Verifies your participation on-chain, forever linked to your wallet.

> **Note:**\
> You can also access Alterim AI CBT if you hold one of the supported partner NFT collections.\
> SBT minting is required only if you don't hold a partner NFT.

### 🔗 How to Mint Your SBT

1. Visit the official Alterim AI site: [alterim.ai](https://alterim.ai)
2. Connect your wallet (ensure you are on the correct network — Berachain if specified).
3. Click **"Mint SBT"** and follow the on-screen prompts.(A small amount of $BERA is required to mint your SBT!)
4. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.
5. Once the transaction is complete, your SBT will appear in your wallet and on your profile page.
